Welcome to the first release of the new Digital Front Row Club, starting, with one of the bands most iconic tours, Brave.
The Leeds show has been called one of the highlights of the tour, and writing in his diary, Steve Hogarth calls the audience incredible and enthusiastic. This was the 4th night of the tour, and Brave had only been released just over 2 weeks previously.
The band had decided to play the whole album as the main show with a set of older songs as the encore.
For the first UK and European shows, the band played smaller more intimate venues then they would do later in the tour. Starting off with Michael Hunter’s “The River” to set the atmosphere and tone for the show (with the crew lighting joss sticks to enhance the ambience). As the water laps quietly and the foghorn making itself heard, screens on the stage would explain the story of the girl on the bridge.
At this point in the tour the band were still feeling their way which results in a looser feel than other Brave shows that have been released previously. The show was a spectacle with h telling the story of the girl, destroying flowers during Runaway, lipstick, makeup and mirror for Mad, being mugged at the end of Hard of Love and donning a cassock for the title track.
This is the first time a full show has been released from the initial UK leg of the tour.
As the album suggests, listen to it loud with the lights off and immerse yourself into the show!
This recording was made as a reference for ourselves while touring, and as an archive of our live performance - it was never planned to be released. We have taken the original recording and ‘remastered’ it to provide a better sonic experience, however it has not been re-touched or over-dubbed in any way.
This recording is provided “as is” - warts and all - for your listening pleasure, so please keep this in mind when listening!
Also includes full pdf artwork should you wish to add the discs to your own FRC physical CD collection.
