This is the 256kbps download of Remixomatosis, the result of an experiment where we invited anyone anywhere to reconstruct our music.
As this experiment took the form of a competition, we selected winners from over 500 entries. Winners have been awarded a cash prize and a place on this CD. The wide range of approaches and styles really surprised us. Some entries made us laugh, some made us grimace, and some knocked us out. It's probably unfair to single out any one remix here so we won't, but it's true to say that one or two of the tracks here really blew us away. We don't pretend that this is a Marillion album, but we hope you enjoy the new and radical takes on our music.
After the contest ended, we decided to contact several of the winners of the original contest and provide them masters of the Marbles album tracks 'You're Gone' and 'Don't Hurt Yourself' to come up with new remixes for use as bonus tracks for a planned retail release.
After a secret promotional-only release to clubs and DJs across Europe of the 'You're Gone' single on vinyl under only the name "Remixomatosis" and reaching number 21 in the UK Dance charts, a retail version of Remixomatosis was eventually abandoned.
