One place that isn't strictly a national park but is part of the national park service is the Blue Ridge Parkway. It goes through Shenandoah National Park but goes much farther than that down into North Carolina. It is such a beautifully designed parkway with lots of great views and some small trails. Bonus, almost no truck traffic.
